How to Market Your Website with Twitter

Are you a webmaster? If so, your website should generate income for you. Whether you sell a product, a service, or generate income through the use of affiliate links, internet marketing is important to your success. A successful internet marketing campaign will generate website traffic, as well as income.

In terms of internet marketing, there are many ways to market your website. In fact, you may be overwhelmed with your options. To get started, you may start with the most recommended approaches. These include submitting articles to article directories with bank links attached, purchasing advertisements on popular websites, exchanging banners with other webmasters, and learning search engine optimization. Yes, these steps are important, but there are benefits to thinking outside-of-the-box. When you do, you will find Twitter.

Twitter is a social networking micro-blog. At first glance, Twitter looks like it can be fun, but also distracting. Yes, it can be, but it all depends on how you use the service. If you aren’t already a member, register for a free account. Choose a username, password, and provide your email address. The next step involves developing a list of contacts. These are individuals whose updates and Tweets you will receive and follow. Look for others to do the same for you.

To make contact with other Twitter members, you can search based on email address, name and location. If you belong to online community, ask for Twitter exchanges. This is ideal if members are your targeted market. For example, does your website share work-at-home opportunities? If so, post Twitter link exchanges on work-at-home related message boards. These individuals will benefit from clicking your links and visiting your website. The more contacts you make on Twitter, the easier it is to market your site.

Once you have developed a following on Twitter, you can start marketing your website. This is also where you can make costly mistakes. Twitter, as previously stated, is a social networking website. For that reason, avoid spammy advertisements. Instead, be clever and social about it. A great introductory post is “Thanks for following me on Twitter. I just finished updating my website, tell me what you think.” First, this offers a personal introduction. Next, it accomplishes the goal of increasing page views.

When you receive followers on Twitter, you are encouraged to return the favor. This is not required, but it can work to your advantage. You will receive Tweets or updates from other members. These updates may include daily updates on activities, but questions are commonly asked. Does someone on your follow list complain about the long drive to work? If you run a work-at-home website, respond with an @reply. Your message could say “Yes, I remember those days. I am glad I now work from home. Did you know that you could too?” and provide a link.

In addition to responding to @replies from those you follow, visit Search.Twitter.com. Messages that are public will be displayed. In keeping with working from home, use targeted keywords, such as work from home, employment, and online jobs. Remember, be sure to include a personal message, but always include a link to your website. In addition to just answering a question, become a follower of the other member.

As for why you should cleverly market your website, it has to do with personalization. In the above mentioned example, you provided a link to your website, but you also provided a personal message. This shows that you are truly reading Tweets and not using Twitter for the sole purpose of advertising. When consumers feel used, they are likely to turn away. If you notice your followers on Twitter decreasing in numbers, it may be because your messages sound like spam.

In short, Twitter has the potential to be an amazing internet marketing tool, but use it wisely. Including a quick personal message with @replies and cleverly incorporating your website link into your Tweets is the perfect way to advertise your website, as it is an advertisement in disguise.

How to Attract Affiliates to Your Program

If you sell a product online, you should rely on affiliate programs. With these programs, you partner with other internet users. They help you increase sales. At the same time, they make money. What could be better than a partnership where everyone involved profits? Not much.

In terms of affiliate programs, there are two main types. For starters, say you operate an online store selling handmade baby clothes. You have a large collection of inventory. You need to drive traffic to your website. You join a large affiliate hosting company, like Commission Junction. You create an account, upload banners and text links to the website. Now, you just need affiliates. These individuals will copy and past the codes from your text links and banners on to their website. Each time a sale is made through them, they make money. Most important, you get a sale!

The other type of affiliate program is when you have a single product or service to sell. This is common with digital goods, such as how-to eBooks. You can use the above mentioned approach of coded links and banners, but you can also provide your affiliates with sales pages. These sales pages then have a link where customers can order the product. Each time a sale is made, you both make money. These vary from the above mentioned affiliate programs, as rarely are graphic banners used. Instead, the program relies on sales pages.

Regardless of how you want to run an affiliate program or what type of product you have available for sale, the first step is finding affiliates. You can wait for them to come to you, but this may take a while. Instead, get the ball rolling yourself.

Visit online message boards for making money online, website owners, bloggers, and internet marketing. These individuals want to make money from home. In fact, most are already participating in affiliate programs. Convince them to join yours. Unfortunately, you need to tread lightly. There same individuals know all about affiliate programs and how you will use them to make money, even more than they are making. Don’t make a standalone post saying “come be an affiliate for us and I will make you a lot of money.” If someone asks for recommendations on affiliate programs, mention yours. Use your signature to advertise your program and the money to be made with a catchy line. Advertise your affiliate program in applicable sections, such as “Advertise Your Business Here,” sections.

Use online classified ads, namely Craigslist.org. Craigslist has rapidly increased in popularity. Those familiar with the internet now turn to it to buy, sell, and trade items, to find jobs, and services. It is based on area, so visit a number of different cities and states. Post advertisements. Be cautious though because you will get individuals who associate affiliate market with a traditional sales job that includes commission. Make it known you do not pay an hourly rate, just commission. With that said, be sure to state the benefits. These include freedom to work from home, being in control over your own hours and the money made.

As previously stated, individuals who want to make money may come to you. At the bottom of your website, be sure to have information on your affiliate program. Give users information on the program, explain how they make money, highlight how much some of your top performers make, and direct them to the online application.

Most affiliate programs rely on a third party affiliate hosting website, like LinkShare, Commission Junction, or Click Bank. When joining these programs, you will give information about your company and your expectations. Be very clear, especially when choosing categories. Website and blog owners visit these websites and browse for affiliate programs that are based around their theme. Don’t let your program mistakenly get lumped into the wrong category. This will make it difficult, if not impossible, for qualified affiliates to find you.

Create An Affiliate Program

If you want to increase your sales, you may opt for running an affiliate program. When doing so, you allow other webmasters and bloggers to do the promoting for you. Not only that, but you both benefit. When they help to generate sales, you get the sale and they get the commission. Most internet users and business owners see affiliate programs as a win win situation and they are.

Although affiliate programs should benefit everyone involved, some programs take a turn in the wrong direction. Don’t let this happen to yours. Remember, the goal of an affiliate program is to promote your company or the products you sell. To ensure this is what happens, please continue reading on for a few helpful tips.

Do not let just anyone into your affiliate program. You will find a lot of varying information about this very subject online. Some affiliate managers recommend letting anyone interested join the program and other have rules and restrictions. For now, be lax on the rules, but use your best judgment. Do not accept an affiliate that has questionable videos, picture, or content on their website. It is usually best to avoid websites that use excessive bad language or have pornographic videos and pictures.

Do create a detailed application for interested applicants to complete. If you use a third-party affiliate hosting site, you may need to make a special note to the administrator. These websites often have their own standard applications. At the every least, get the name of the website your links, banners, company name, and products will be displayed on. Make sure it is inline with your views and company image.

Do not be afraid to reject some applications. As previously stated, you should not let anyone into your affiliate program. This is very important if your company name or products are linked-to on the website. You have an image to protect. With that said, saying you are going to reject is easier than doing it. You may feel bad for the applicant or think about the money lost. Don’t. If it will make you feel better, offer a brief explanation. If the applicant is on the right track, but not there, provide a few tips. Encourage them to implement these tips and then reapply for the program.

Do not expect to see results right away. If you started selling a product or a service, you already know that you cannot build an empire overnight. For example, if you wrote and eBook that you now sell online, it took you months to write that book, proofread, and edit. Then, you had to design a cover and upload to the web. You likely marketed your website before deciding on an affiliate program. You saw right away that just because a product or website is online, it doesn’t mean people will find it. Remember this about your affiliate program. It may take applicants awhile to learn about the opportunity. It make take even longer for their efforts to generate sales. Never give up on an affiliate program before the two-year mark. If after that point, you are still losing money, terminate.

Finally, be sure to invest time in those who look promising. Whether it be a consistent top performer or a new affiliate who looks promising, invest your time. Always encourage your affiliates to actively promote your company and products, but reward them for jobs well-done. Always be available or hire an affiliate manager to take questions, complaints, and suggestions. A happy affiliate will do the most for your company.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work

To put it plainly, affiliate marketing involves the marketing and sale of products for other companies. Whilst you won’t be producing any products, you will be affiliated with these companies and selling their products.

Affiliate marketers are provided with a unique URL that contains an affiliate identification (AffiliateID) so that any traffic generated to a site due to your marketing tactics can be easily attributed to your efforts. When a potential customer makes a visit to the website via your URL, a cookie will be created in their browser that also links to your AffiliateID. Even if that potential customer does not make a purchase there and then, but then returns to make a purchase, you will be credited as having initiated that sale. The expiration time of each cookie depends on the site; it could last forever (or until the cookie cache is cleared by the user) or it may even expire as quickly as half an hour. The industry standard for cookie expiration is approximately 60 days, although this is not set in stone.

The majority of companies award compensation to affiliate marketers in two ways: using Pay Per Sale, or Pay Per Lead. Pay Per Sale means that the affiliate marketer only receives payment if a click-through is transformed into a sale. A percentage of the sale or a flat fee is paid to the marketer. Many companies are seeing the benefits of using affiliate marketing as a cost-saving exercise; the company only need pay the marketer for the results which the marketer does all the hard work.

To get off to a good start in affiliate marketing there are a number of considerations you need to make when selecting a product. You need to choose a product that is easy to promote, popular, and with which you are able to achieve high rankings on search engines through the use of key phrases and keywords. An easy starting point is to choose a product that has a specific function, for example it can get you something, or rid the customer of something. These products are relatively easy to convert to sales as customers are actually searching for this information and are a little further in the purchasing cycle than somebody who is just browsing.

When you start having success with your chosen products and have established robust marketing methods that work, you can start to increase the amount of effort you put in. With your successful marketing tactics, you will be able to promote a lot of products for lots of companies at the same time and see your earnings soar.

Affiliate Payload Review

Being an affiliate is one of the best deals going for most online marketers, but as more people try their hand at marketing products and services online, so the competition rises.

We’re reaching a point where website visitors are more precious than ever, and subsequently harder to obtain.

Therefore, it is paramount that we, as affiliate marketers are able to convert as many of these visitors into buyers.

After all, by converting more people we don’t have to spend so much time on hunting down more traffic to our sites and can increase our affiliate checks without overloading our bandwidth.

So the question is, what can you do today to increase affiliate commissions from the same amount of website visitors? Luckily, there are quite a few things you can do to increase the chances of a sale and improve your conversions, so let’s take a look…

1. Place your main offer in the top fold of the page

According to numerous tests, having the offer jammed right in the visitor’s face, such as in the header of the page, will increase the chances of a click, and a subsequent sale. Don’t worry about being obnoxious, people should still be able to easily access your content, but will repeatedly see the main offer first on every relevant page (preferably all pages of the same site).

2. Add more affiliate links with persuasive anchor text

It makes sense that the more times you ask for the sale (or just the click) then the more chances it will actually happen. The old adage of “If you don’t ask then you don’t get” always springs to mind here. Again, don’t flood a page with links but add links inside the content and not just at the bottom of your pages or on the navigation bars. Furthermore, refrain from using links that just describe the product name or show the domain of the affiliated site. It’s far better to use anchor text such as “Get relief from your back pain today” than a simple link such as www.amazingwebsiteaboutbackpainrelief.us.uk

3. Create painful, focused content

It is far better to use content that ties in directly with the visitor’s pain and predominant problems. Therefore, the reader will feel more inclined to take action after being presold with your content. For example, you could write an article about the different types of back pain and a few ways to temporarily relieve it, but then provide plenty of affiliate links to the only real solution.

These are just some of the ways you can increase website conversions for affiliate offers, but I admit that they take time and effort to craft and test.

Creating content that presell’s people is a great affiliate marketing model, but by no means the easiest way to make large commissions from affiliate marketing.

Did you know that some of the biggest affiliate marketers online today don’t even need to create content to make affiliate sales? Furthermore, these same marketers are getting several thousand hits to their websites each week purely off the back of other people’s hard work…and most of these marketers don’t even own a domain name!

If you’d like to see what they are doing to get such lazy results, then check out what Alex Goad has brought out of the shadows recently. But be warned, it might make you sick with envy and seriously bruised from kicking yourself repeatedly…
