If you choose to use free traffic methods, you are essentially trading your time for traffic. However, free methods remain useful because not everyone has deep pockets to dig into. Furthermore, you should go for unpaid traffic if you are a beginner – just to get your feet wet and try things out. Here are 5 free traffic methods that you can use.

Method 1: Article marketing.

This is my personal favorite. It’s very easy to execute, and it’s been proven to work very well. What you do is to write quality articles and share your knowledge with the rest of the world. When you publish your articles on other websites, you can add your links to the author resource box. Note that your links must be in the resource box. They cannot be in the article body.

Method 2: SEO.

SEO is the process of optimizing on-page and off-page factors so that you rank higher in the search results. When that happens, you get a steady stream of traffic every day. Organic traffic is well known for being easy to convert because the visitor is already actively searching for related information. So if you have the ready solution, the visitor is likely to buy.

Remember that SEO is about link building. You can’t just optimize on-page factors and forget to build back links. Search engines assign rankings based on the number of quality back links you have pointing back to your site. If you have no one linking to you, it’s unlikely that you will rank well.

Method 3: Forum traffic.

Over the years, some forums have become very popular. For popular niches, like Internet Marketing or Web Development, forums have grown to include hundreds of thousands of members. Sometimes, there is a marketplace for you to promote your own product of service. You are allowed to post your links there. However, note that blatant promotion in forums other than the marketplace may be considered as spam and you may get your account banned. So be sure to follow the rules.

You can also add your links to your forum signature so that every time you make a post, you get some back links posted on the forum.

Method 4: Free classifieds.

This method works very well if you have something personal to sell. There are literally dozens of free classified sites on the Internet. They get most of their traffic from search engines. Since these are classified sites, you are free to promote anything you like, as long as your ads don’t violate the rules of the sites.

Method 5: Social bookmarking.

Social bookmarking is a great way to share useful links and resources. Sometimes, groups are formed to attract people with similar interest. Posting links to these groups will help give you the much needed exposure.

As for why you should cleverly market your website, it has to do with personalization. In the above mentioned example, you provided a link to your website, but you also provided a personal message. This shows that you are truly reading Tweets and not using Twitter for the sole purpose of advertising. When consumers feel used, they are likely to turn away. If you notice your followers on Twitter decreasing in numbers, it may be because your messages sound like spam.

In short, Twitter has the potential to be an amazing internet marketing tool, but use it wisely. Including a quick personal message with @replies and cleverly incorporating your website link into your Tweets is the perfect way to advertise your website, as it is an advertisement in disguise.

A few weeks ago I decided I had to completely change the way I approach affiliate marketing, in fact all marketing online. I had no clue about how to make videos or how to market them but realized that if I did not get on board the Internet Marketing bandwagon then I was going to get left behind. My results have been nothing short of staggering. You see not only am I making more money using these methods (admittedly in conjunction with traditional methods) but more importantly it is taking less time to do it. Now that is a revelation, well it is to me anyway.

So how did I go from knowing nothing to making money with videos? Well I was in a hurry so I literally went out and bought everything and while in a few cases I wasted some money for the most part the info I got was great. Most of the methods can be done for free but like most things in life you get what you pay for. A quick example of this would be submitting videos to all the big video sharing sites. You can do this manually for free but is VERY time consuming. Or you can use a free service which submits to half a dozen sites. Or you can go the whole hog and use a membership service that submits your videos to all the major sites in minutes.

I’ll go into more detail about these services as well as other video resources that I highly recommend in future posts. But for now here are a few resources that I use that you can check out for yourself.
